About a year ago, I tried Black Sesame ice cream and loved it. I can't really eat ice cream, so I wanted to create that same flavor in a cupcake. This is Vanilla Cake with Black Sesame Buttercream. I love the nuttiness of the frosting and can't wait to try it out with other flavor combinations.
Bacon Cake for Ari Stern's Birthday. Ari owns CULTUREfix, a very popular bar/gallery on the Lower East Side that also serves food. He loves bacon, so I made this cake which is Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake studded with Bacon, filled with Sweet Caramel Buttercream that was sprinkled with J&D Bacon Salt, Raw Brown Sugar and Bacon. I covered the cake with Chocolate Buttercream and Caramel. The entire cake is flanked with Thick-Cut Chocolate-Covered Bacon and finished with a Fondant piggy and Gold Disco Dust.
Trio of cupcakes created for a Summer rooftop party. Mango-Lime Cake filled with Mango Curd and topped with Mango Buttercream. Cherry Cake with Cherry-Almond Buttercream. Bananas Foster Cupcake: Banana Cake with Brown Sugar-Rum Buttercream and Caramelized Banana.
Superhero Trio Cake for Jack's 4th Birthday. His Dad wanted Superman, Batman and Spider-Man incorporated in one cake. I decided to break the cake into thirds and tie it together with primary colors to signify a comic-book feel. Vanilla and Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Buttercream and Fondant.
